Sugar crashes

A rapid fall in your blood sugar can cause symptoms of a sugar crash. You may experience symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, irritability or hunger and they can even cause you to become confused of pass out. The most common cause is a condition called reactive hypoglycaemia. In almost all cases the right advise or treatment to help prevent these attacks can help can improve your symptoms.

There are a number of rare causes of low blood sugar. These include rare diseases of the pancreas and liver. If your symptoms are severe it is important to have tests to exclude these rare causes. These types of tests usually require specialist supervision form an endocrinologist like me.
